其中有5個與2001年福布斯選出的10大世界最醜陋建築不謀而合。這些建築的共通點都是花費巨大、企圖建立當代甚至未來風格，但卻被當地居民、建築師和普羅大眾視為“怪物”。

中國萬里長城為「月球上唯一可望見的地球建築物」，不過這只是一種說法，以人類肉眼是無法在月球上望向地球而有能力辨別哪處是長城的。萬里長城東起渤海灣的山海關（有說虎山長城為起點），經過北京、黃河、沿著絲路的北邊而行至甘肅省的嘉峪關，全長共約六千公里（由虎山起計為7300公里）。最初是在2500年前周朝末年為防止匈奴入侵而興建，後來秦始皇贏政動員無數軍隊及農民，耗費無數人力及時間完成目前長城的雛形，後經歷各朝代加以增強、補建為今日的模樣。

這一帶在歷史上為軍事重地，早在戰國時期，這裡便構築了長城防禦工事，至今仍有牆垣、墩台等殘蹟。漢代時，這裡設置居庸關 - 舊指軍都關、薊門關。居庸關為路級防區，扼守京北咽喉要道，八達嶺則地處要道北口，與南口相對。南北口之間有一處峽谷關溝，長廿公里，居庸關居於其中，而八達嶺則雄踞北端最高點，形勢十分險要。

跟長城有關的故事則有膾炙人口的『孟姜女哭倒長城』，到現代就有著名的魔術師大衛高柏菲及已故的柯受良，在這裡表演他們的拿手好戲。

中國萬里長城是世界上修建時間最長，工程量最大的冷兵器戰爭時代的國家軍事性防御工程，凝聚著我們祖先的血汗和智慧，也是中華民族的象徵和驕傲。

The ancient city of Hierapolis was built on top of the white "castle" which is in total about 2700 meters long and 160m high. It can be seen from the hills on the opposite side of the valley in the town of Denizli, 20 km away.

棉花堡是土耳其名勝，也是世界上少有的天然奇景。這裡有經歷千百年由石灰岩形成層層疊疊的水潭，如無暇的白璧。 白皚皚的天然地貌猶如美麗的堡壘，清澈的泉水緩緩從山上的泉眼流下，黃昏時分尤為美麗。

耶路撒冷歷史悠久，是以色列自1950年以來的首都，該國的總統府、大部分政府機關、最高法院和國會均位於該市。1980年，以色列國會立法確定耶路撒冷是該國「永遠的和不可分割的首都」但是，大多數國家不承認耶路撒冷是以色列的首都，認為該市的最終地位尚未確定，有待以色列和巴勒斯坦雙方談判決定。多數國家都將大使館設在特拉維夫。而巴勒斯坦自治政府也宣布耶路撒冷將是巴勒斯坦國的首都。因此，今天耶路撒冷仍然是阿以衝突的中心。

七星岩景區

該景區由散落廣闊區的七岩、八洞、五湖、六崗組成，以山奇水秀、湖山相映、洞穴幽奇見勝。景區內七座挺拔秀麗的石灰岩山峰布列如北鬥七星，故名七星岩。它分南北兩列，南列由東而西為閬風岩、玉屏岩、石室岩、天柱岩、仙掌岩等，唯阿坡岩獨峙北部。兩列之間有一土山，山上西有波海樓，東有星湖旅社。

Hancock, estimated the Thutmosis I obelisk to stand at '21.3m high and weighs an estimated 143 tonnes', and mentions an inscriptions which tells us that the obelisk was once covered with electron - (An alloy of gold and silver).

A third obelisk, of which only the upper 9 metres still remain, lies nearby. Also raised in the time of Queen Hatshepsut, this obelisk is estimated to have originally weighted 320 tons (only 70 tons now remains). This obelisk, when thumped, is known to have resonant qualities, that last for up to 30 seconds.

This last obelisk was also once part of a pair - the other was erected in the place de Concorde, France in 1836 and is estimated to weigh about 300 tons.

A quartzite monolith weighing 110 metric tons, placed in a chamber with an interior length of 7 metres and walls 1 metre thick. The quartzite monolith was lowered onto the sarcophagus by means of sand-flow, and the chamber was later covered with another two huge 50-ton limestone vaulting stones.

The sarcophagus was found to be empty when opened.

26) Heliopolis, Egypt - The last standing obelisk at Heliopolis and therefore the oldest known surviving in Egypt, this stone is twenty metres high and weighs 121 tons. Egyptologists have deduced that it was raised on the jubilee of pharaoh Sesostris I in 1492 BC.

The nearest source of quartz for 'Le Grand Menhir Brisé' was over 50 miles distant.

The 'blue-stones' for Stonehenge were transported from over 100 miles away.

The Granite for the Giza pyramids was transported from 500 miles away.

長白山天池又稱白頭山天池，坐落在吉林省東南部，是中國和朝鮮的界湖，湖的北部在吉林省境內。 長白山位於中、朝兩國的邊界，資源豐富，景色非常美麗。在遠古時期，長白山原是一座火山，據史籍記載，自16世紀以來它爆發了3次，當火山爆發噴射出大量熔岩之後，火山口處形成盆狀，時間一長，積水成湖，便成了現在的天池。而火山噴發出來的熔岩物質則堆積在火山口周圍，成了屹立在四周的16座山峰，其中7座在朝鮮境內，9座在我國境內。這9座山峰各具特點，形成奇異的景觀。

長白山最著名的景點是天池，不到天池等於沒到長白山。天池是火山噴發自然形成的我國最大的火山口湖，也是松花江、圖們江、鴨綠江三江之源。因為它所處的位置高，水面海拔達2190米，所以被稱為“天池”。
